SOUTH LAKE TAHOE — November 2, 2026. South Lake Tahoe requires building permit applications, plan review submissions and related payments to be processed through the city’s eTRAKiT online portal.
When the change took effect
The city says the digital processing requirement began April 14, 2025. Applicants must register for an account and use the portal for plan review, permits and inspection requests.
Different permits have different needs
Building, grading, engineering and right-of-way activities may involve separate application types and city standards. Access to a portal does not mean a project is exempt from zoning, TRPA review, building codes or environmental requirements.
Where to ask for assistance
The Building Division lists 530-542-6015 for the Building Official, while the Engineering office lists 530-542-6070 for engineering permit inquiries. A submission receipt is not a final permit approval.
